May 16-19 Priorat Blending Escape

Priorat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has become known as one of the world’s most unique and rewarding places to make powerful yet mineral-driven and food friendly wine. Perhaps no other wine region in the world so perfectly toes the line between ancient tradition and modern winemaking techniques. Especially when combined with a quest to partake of the many Catalonian specialties prepared by the world class chefs here, an immersion via tasting the very special wines is an epicurean traveler’s dream trip.

Winemaking

We partner with the highly regarded Terroir al Limit. Dominik Huber and Tatjana Perceric’s biodynamically farmed vineyards and the incredibly unique terroir of the region, along with their traditional winemaking, combine to produce wines in an elegant, fresh style perfect with the inventive local cuisine. Winemaking (and life) partners Dominik and Tatjana lend their expert hand to our blends, this time a 2023 Priorat using base wines including Carignan and Grenache wines from different vineyards/terroirs. And Terroir al Limit’s wines are only aged in cement vats so as to honestly highlight their place of origin.

Accommodations

Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno, a brand new Relais & Chateau hotel on an historic estate in the heart of Priorat. With 24 elegant suites, this is the ideal place to disconnect and enjoy an exclusive getaway, surrounded by mountains, vineyards and quaint hilltop villages.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrivals. Get the lowdown on Priorat winemaking’s rich history and where it stands today, in a tasting with our expert Marie von Ahm. Then enjoy a fresh, creatively prepared dinner at the hotel’s locally focused restaurant Vinum, where we will be joined by a local winemaker and her fabulous wines.

Day 2 | The main event: an enlightening blending session with our partner Terroir al Limit, in which visionary winemakers Dominik and Tatjana will work closely with you to compose your own unique blend according to your palate. Next we’ll lunch on the unique Priorat specialties of La Cooperativa and afterward use our noses as we are led through the Perfume Experience by legendary olfactory expert Ernesto Collado. After rest and relaxation, we will enjoy one of the region’s most lauded dining experiences (and deepest wine lists) at Brot’s.

Day 3 | Begin the day with a tour of where it all began: the Scala Dei Carthusian Monastery, then ride or walk up to Dominik’s own vineyard for a picnic with a view, featuring the world’s best jamón ibérico and some of Terroir al Limit’s most critically acclaimed wines. Relax by the pool while sipping on refreshing white Priorat wines, then head to an unforgettable farewell dinner at La Bacchanal, inside a converted stable in the village of Falset.

Day 4 | Departures
