May 31 - June 8 Burgundy/Rhône Valley Scouting Trip

Combining visits to two of France’s most important wine regions into a week-long Vines trip seemed like a logical next step for us, and we hope you will join us on what we feel will be one of our most iconic trips. We will adventure our way through these stunning regions as the locals do. The wines we will taste and drink on this trip promise to go down in Vines history, and needless to say the dining experiences will be unmatched.

Accommodations TBD

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrivals in Beaune. Take a historic walking tour of the medieval city of Beaune, then immerse yourself in the mythical realm of Burgundian wine, among the world’s greatest. We will first be treated to an enlightening orientation tasting, followed by dinner at a winemakers’ favorite local restaurant (and joined by a couple star young winemakers from the region).

Day 2 | Tour of the colorful and bustling market of Beaune while trying various local specialties; scenic bike ride to Savigny-les-Beaune where we will have lunch at one of our favorites, Le Soleil. Afternoon tour and tasting in Aloxe-Corton. Dinner at a wine-centric bistro with a winemaker guest joining us.

Day 3 | Head to Chez Adeline where we will have a Burgundian cooking class followed by lunch with wine pairings from her privileged cellar. Then we’ll drive south to Santenay, just beyond Puligny-Montrachet (where we stop to visit the Grand Crus) for a winery tour and tasting. Enjoy a relaxed dinner in Beaune.

Day 4 | Exploration of the Côte de Nuits, with visits to historic villages and renowned domaines, and joined by Burgundy experts as we visit the vines and enjoy wine tastings with the owners. Together we will walk the parcels of La Romanée Conti, Clos de Vougeot, Les Amoureuses and more. Lunch will be at the winemakers' favorite spot Le Bistro de Lucien in Gevrey-Chambertin.

Day 5 | Head south toward Lyon, making a stop in the wilder, more rustic Beaujolais along the way, having lunch at a winery with a crash course on this region, its crus and terroir. Set back out early evening for a scenic cruise along the Rhône river to get a feeling for the vineyards and towns from the water.

Day 6 | Travel to the legendary Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation for our Rhône introduction tasting and visit to the vineyards with a winery owner. Casual lunch to follow here or in a nearby village, then to our fabulous 5-star hotel, Crillon le Brave, where we will also dine.

Day 7 | A full day of Rhône winery visits, diving deep into the wines of the region and visiting a mix of historic, emblematic wineries as well as the new wave, up-and-coming generation. We will also explore the cultural side of the area, with visits to a well-curated art collection, a local lavender farm and an artisanal honey producer.

Day 8 | A second full day of winery and cultural visits, followed by a festive final dinner.

Day 9 | Departures
